Shantou University

Shantou University is located in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is a key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education of China, Guangdong Province and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. The school was founded in 1981 and is a product of China's reform and opening up. Guangdong Province is the most economically developed province in China, and its industrial strength ranks first in China. Shantou City is one of the earliest special economic zones established in China.Shantou University currently has 12 disciplines in the top 1% of ESI in the world, and many teachers have been selected into the "Annual Influence" list of the top 2% of top scientists in the world at Stanford University. Shantou University ranks 20th among mainland Chinese universities in the QS World University Sustainable Development 2025 Ranking. 

At present, the school has established close academic exchange and cooperation relations with 132 universities in 30 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Japan, Russia, Australia, and Germany.Shantou University recruits international students from all over the world. The school has nearly 400 international students from 36 countries and regions, covering undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees and non-academic programs such as preparatory courses and Chinese language training, forming a relatively complete international student education system.
